I almost cried when I woke up, seeing how dark it was and the drowsiness feeling I had told me I wasn't asleep for very long. Still cursed with the inability of sleeping for very long. I lied.. I did cry.
"Marina?" I sniffled some, peaking up from the blanket, Lexi now facing me as she laid in bed still. It was silent as she looked at me, her sister sleeping quietly across the room.
"Marina, Fezco's been like, really worried about you.. Your sister.. You weren't answering the phone, not going home, you even stopped going to school." I shrugged some, my mind lingering on the thought of Fezco and Lexi talking more than anything. My mind also remembering New Year's when I saw them talking on the couch that night.. They looked so happy. Then I remembered the day at the store, how she had finally worked up the courage to talk to him but unable to because Cal showed up. Then I started thinking ab- No. I don't wanna think about that.

She smiled softly at me, nodding her head as if finally giving in. Which I'm guessing she meant giving into this conversation not the fact she likes Fez, because we both knew she did already.
"Me and him talk all the time.. I'm putting on this play at school and he's been like, really comforting." I nod, watching her talk like a child being told a bedtime story. A child hearing about the most marvelous tales, which to me it was. Her and Fezco, literally the nicest people I know. I'm glad if anyone found each other, it's them. Think it's about time they each find someone they could be happy with, and both of them deserved to be happy. And judging by the smile she couldn't hide very well when she talked about him.. I knew he made her happy. And I know Lexi well make him happy.
"What's the play?" My voice small, weary. She looks over at Cassie, looking back at me while shaking her head some.
"I'll tell you another time. Don't mention it to Cassie though." I nod slowly.
"Only if you don't tell anyone I'm here." I counter back. I felt bad, but.. Guess I'm just a sh*tty person like my mother after all. She frowned.
"My mom already told us to keep quiet for now... Marina.. What happened? Why is everyone looking for you? Why'd you stop going home or.. or start avoiding Fezco? Ashtray?" I stared at her, my body to numb to respond, even if I wanted to. Unless it was to cry, because that, honestly, I think I could easily do no matter how numb I felt.
"Marina, you can talk to me. What's wrong?" I blinked slowly to her, half lidded as I sighed heavily.
"I'm just tired Lexi.. Can you tell me more about you and Fez? How'd it first happened, after that day in the store." I mumbled quietly. She looked sad for a long while, not talking as she stared at me. As if trying to get herself to continue.
She got up from the bed, throwing her blanket over her shoulder while grabbing her pillow, making her way beside me on the floor. I watched quietly as she set herself up, laying close to me on the floor, both of us tucked under the blankets looking at each other. Only now, the sadness in her eyes was much clearer and more distinct.
"At first it started because he was worried about you. He wanted to know if I've seen or heard from you. He called back the next day, saying you showed up to the store high.. We talked about you for a while, not like, anything bad, but, like.. He's really worried about you Marina. Said Ashtray won't tell him anything. He's sad you both shut him out.. Then at school I uh, I kinda heard Rue and Elliot talking about you at school. They were like, arguing about telling Jules, Elliot wanting to tell Jules where you were, but Rue said no, leave it alone. Yeah Uh, anyways.." I blinked, silently telling her to continue, using whatever energy I had to pay attention to her words, let alone reply.
