Description of Fighting Force
A decent PC port of a Playstation game of the same name, Fighting Force is little more than classic Double Dragon series with a facelift.
Given that it was designed by the same team that brought us Tomb Raider, Fighting Force should be a much better game. Instead, you get only an average "fighting beat-em-up" that offers banal gameplay and a flawed control system. The game boasts "a fully interactive city." This means that, similar to Double Dragon or Final Fight, you can wield everyday objects such as trash cans and car tires as weapons.
The game gives you four character choices, each with its own strengths, but ultimately it doesn't really matter which character you pick since you will end up doing the same things anyway. The typical array of punches, kicks, and grabs are here, as well as a character-specific special attack that clears out all the enemies around them at the cost of a little bit of their life bar. Needless to say, originality is not one of Fighting Force's strong points.
Graphically, Fighting Force looks decent enough, although the characters are much more blocky than they should be (especially given how nice Tomb Raider manages to be with older technology). What hurts the game the most is boring enemies and very easy gameplay - I beat the game's final "boss" by simply pounding on the punch button repeatedly. Needless to say, this takes almost all the enjoyment out of the game. The only neat thing about Fighting Force is that there are alternate routes depending on which way you walk.
All in all, a pretty uninspired effort at making a 3D Final Fight. Check it out, but be prepared to go back to CAPCOM's classic (or Little Fighter 2 ;)) very very soon.

Hi, does anyone know how to download this on the steamdeck? I tried it with all the DOS game tutorials but nothing seems to work (or I am doing something wrong). Would appreciate the help xx

tried this on ubuntu with lutris + wine worked fine i used the rip version full version should work find without issues. If you use the rip version use the FFORCE_NOVID.EXE from the Fighting-Force_Fix_Win_EN_Windows-XP-Fix.zip

For quitting the game just pulse Q for opening the menu and Y to exit.

Thanks Danny Dogg, what you say helped me and it is playable the only bad thing is there is no music. I tried before running with a Windows XP vitual machine with VMware and it works with little graphic errors but the music plays ok.
The Windows XP fix is no other thing like the crack for the old DRM protection.

Also wanted to add, i just tried every rendering options, they all work except
"Z Buffering" which will give you a ddraw error
"Run in a window" works but you can't see anything except a white screen
Any other option works too

Guess what, i got it working under Win10, i was just searching, then i found this ddraw wrapper in the main game installation folder and it booted, the writting in the menus is bearly readable, but i managed to finish 8 levels without any crashes, just don't forget to add Admin & WinXP (SP2) compatibility to fforce.exe & ffsetup.exe, otherwise it doesn't recognise the resolution you set and it gives ddraw errors.
The other great thing is that it recognises and configures your 360 gamepad straight away.
Anyway here's the file i used to make it work, it's DDrawCompat v0.2.1 from Narzoul on GitHub = https://github.com/narzoul/DDrawCompat/releases

this was like the first 3d walking fighting game for pc, it was nice to play with coop on same keyboard, too bad the sequel was only on console

Using the Rip version on a WinXP VirtualBox 6.0.22 with VBoxVGA adapter and 3D acceleration activated. Running the FFORCE.EXE tells me to "run setup program", but when I run the FFSETUP.EXE, it just tells me "No card with 3d hardware acceleration detected - setup aborted". I checked with DXDIAG and both DirectDraw and Direct3D are enabled and render a 3D image. Tried applying the "fix" download, but still doesn't work. Pity, I played this countless nights in my younger years, probably still have those CDs lying around somewhere.

Downloading and reading that this won't work on W10. If smb has news please comment. I know PSX version works wonderfully via emulator though.
